PART II: Infinitesimal Changes and their Consequences

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”

Perception is regarded as an interaction between the objective existence and the subjective percipient, both of which, can be thought to be always changing, and both of which in changing, change the perception. In Heraclitus’ view, the water of the river continuously flows, so the river cannot stay the same; the mind of humans also consistently flows, so the person cannot remain the same. Everything, including nature and the human, is changing with an infinitesimal “passage.” Through the infinitesimals, the world behaves like a process of evolution, and life becomes a tale of progress toward greater sophistication (or complexity). Our perception is then the integration of both of them.
